“Awh, Ace,” he said quietly, “I’m sorry I can’t be that guy for ya. You’ve no idea how much I wish I could be.” It was an extremely emotional thing for someone like Hawkeye to say words like these, as he wasn’t normally one to show much emotion at all. There seemed to be two exceptions now to that rule and both of them were female. In a very un characteristic move, the Harlem leader stood up, pulled Ace to her feet, and then wrapped his arms around her in a hug, her head fitting perfectly under his chin. He couldn’t find the words to describe how sorry he was for hurting her like this and decided the sisters at the orphanage had been right: actions spoke louder than words.

Ace was surprised when he pulled her from her chair and held her in his arms. She burried her face in his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist. This made it hurt even more, him being so nice and apologetic, so regretful for hurting her....this made it alot harder. She had agreed to stay with Chase, but she knew no matter what that Chase could never completely hold her heart because even Chase didn't make her feel the way Hawk did. She swore she would not cry, she wasn't going to cry, there had only been very few times Hawk had ever seen her cry, the night she was taken to the hospital and a select few times years ago but she would not let him see her cry now. She fought it she fought it so hard but before she knew it, she couldn't fight it any more and light tears fell reluctantly from her sparkling blue eyes as she kept her face burried in his chest. She wouldn't let him see it, she didn't want to make him feel worse, she wanted to be ok, she wanted to be happy for him because she knew exactly why he couldn't be with her....she knew his reason had to be Hope. She tried to hide her tears by keeping her face hidden against his chest but she knew by now he could probably feel the tears seeping through his shirt.
