[Mush Meyers]

Mush was standin' on the harbor yellin' out the headline of his papes. "Extry! Extry! Read all about it!" He knew he wasnt alone but it was still quiet in Bottle Alley. Well besides the other people. He meant there was no other newsies around. He wondered where everyone was. Street, Race, Poet, Broadway (ok so he wasnt a newsies, but still) and especially Brooke. Mush hadnt seen her in a while. Where was everyone? And Jack. Jack had been gone for some time now. Maybe I'll go check out the docks. Ya know to find out where they was. Spot always knew what was happenin' and if he didn't Street would. Mush gave up sellin' papes, he only had a couple left, and left for the Brooklynn docks. Maybe he'd sell them on the way.

She handed a nice looking man her last paper and collected the nickel he handed her,"thanks mista, have a nice day,"she said her french accent mixing with her New York one coming out in a very interesting yet mellodic tone. She smiled and ran a hand through her blond waves of hair as she looked around. She wondered if anyone else she knew was around. Her eyes lit up seeing Mush. She rushed over and tackled him from behind, her arm around his neck,"heya hun....where ya headed?"she asked looking at him with her sparkling blue eyes. She grinned at him and let go stepping back and rummaging her pockets for a cigarette. She extracted one and lit it before taking a drag and falling in to step beside him.

Mush, who was kinda in his own world, jumped when Ace came up behind him. "Oh. Heya Ace. I was just headed over to Brooklynn. Ya know to find out where everone is. Hey ya havent seen seen Jack anywhere have ya?" He continued looking around. As if expecting Jack to jump out of the shadows. He took his hat off and wiped the sweat off his head. Then he put it back on and looked at Ace again.

Ace shook her head solemnly,"Nah haven't seen Jackyboy....he's prolly busy with some kids or sellin' his papes, or even sleepin'" she said as she looked at the ground watching her feet. She tilted her head as she looked back up at Mush,"everyone is prolly out sellin' there papes, they'll be around, ya may not wanna go huntin' 'em down ya know,"she said taking another drag on her cigarette. She rummaged her pockets again looking for a candy stick or something, she had a small addiction to sweets, especially candy, she had alot of addictions, gambling, candy, and smoking, drinking occassionally too. She found a blue candystick in her pocket and flicked her finished cigarette aside replacing it with the candy in her mouth.

Mush listened attentively. "Ya got a point there, Ace." His face fell as he listened to her. "It's just so frustratin'! Not knowin' where Jack is. He's never gone this long without telling anyone where he'll be before." He kicked some stones into the harbor. "So whiles we're waitin' ya wanna walk?" He looked at her then the sky and back to her again.
