Newsie Name and Origin: Hawkeye – He’s very observant and always knows what’s going on around him.

Personality: Hawkeye is not one to show much emotion. He is most often cold, menacing and downright fear inducing. His newsies, on the other hand, have seen his other side and follow him loyally, knowing that he always has their best interest at heart. His dislike of outsiders insists that someone prove themselves to him before he trusts them.

He’s a good strategist, he stays calm in intense situations, and he always knows what’s going on around him. As a man of his word, Hawkeye doesn’t promise something unless he knows he can follow through. He tends to swear quite a bit, though tries to avoid doing so around the younger kids, and he sometimes steals things he needs if he can’t afford them. He’s a fantastic person to have watching your back, if only you can prove yourself worth backing.

History: Hawkeye grew up in an orphanage in Chicago, Illinois. The only information he received about himself was his name and birth date. He knows nothing of his parents, except that they at one time existed, and that he only assumes because he knows how babies are made. When he was 13 he left the orphanage and hitchhiked to New York City. Dragon, the then leader of Harlem took an instant liking to young Hawkeye and named him his successor. Two years ago, Dragon was killed in a knife fight and Hawkeye’s been in charge ever since.

Body: 5’10”, 140 lbs, well-built, tan.

Clothing, Special Items, Other: Hawk smokes like a chimney and there is almost always a cigarette in his hand. His usual attire consists of an old white shirt that is missing the first few buttons, worn grey pants, and frayed black suspenders. He owns a jack-knife he stole when he first became a newsie and he knows how to use it.
