Full Name: Emil Andras István
Newsie name:None yet (I couldn’t think of one)
Name origin: N/A
Age: 10 years
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Brooklyn,NY
Currently Living: Brooklyn NY
History:Up until two months ago, Emil’s life was the same as that of any other middle class kid in Brooklyn. His father was a relatively successful cobbler and his mother was a housewife. They had both found success in America after emigrating there from Hungary as newlyweds. He lived with them and his three younger siblings in a small home in a nice little neighborhood with plenty of other kids to play with. He went to school a few blocks away and received decent grades. He helped to watch the younger kids on occasion but, like any young boy, he much preferred to be outside playing stickball or cowboys and Indians. But that all changed one night when a candle in his parents’ room had been left burning by the open window and the curtains had brushed against it, starting a fire which rapidly engulfed several of the rooms of the house. Emil woke up to the smell of smoke and managed to get out of the house with his baby sister (with whom he shared a room) but sadly, the rest of his family wasn’t so lucky. His parents room was completely burnt with his parents still stuck inside of it and by the time the firemen were able to put out the blaze, his younger brother and sister had already died from smoke inhalation. Immediately after the fire, he and his baby sister, Eszter, went to live with his aunt and uncle who lived only blocks away but they soon decided that they didn’t want to be stuck raising a traumatized ten year old boy so they sent him out on his own after only a month of living with them. He now stays at the Brooklyn lodging house but he stops by his aunt’s house every morning so he can bring his sister with him while he’s selling (this serves a double purpose in that it gives him more success in selling and it gives Ezster someone to care for her during the day while their aunt is at work the day as a nurse.)His aunt and uncle still provide him with clothing; he’s pretty much on his own when it comes to room and board.
Hair Color: Blonde
Hair Style: a crew cut which has grown out a bit (especially on the top)
Eye Color: Blue
Skin Color: Caucasian, pale
Height: 4’6”
Weight: 75 lb
Clothing Style: His clothing is basic but very neat, clean, and relatively new as his aunt buys it for him.
Items owned: A limited assortment of clothing, a picture of him and his siblings a picture of his mother, another of his father, and (all of which were given to him by his aunt and uncle as all of his possessions were too badly damaged in the fire to be recovered)
Troubles: He’s having difficulty adjusting to being an orphan and to living in a lodging house rather than a home. He misses school and all of his friends there. Also, he’s still grieving the loss of his parents and his two younger siblings and suffers from a considerable amount of survivor’s guilt over the whole ordeal.
Fears: Fire, losing or losing touch with his last remaining sibling, not being able to make it on his own.
Siblings:
Eszter Konstanczia István (5 mo.)
Dorothya Terézke István (4 years, deceased)
Attila Férencz István (5 years, deceased)
Parents:
Father: Teodor Zoltan István (deceased)
Mother: Erzsébet Irenke István (nee. Andras) (deceased)
