Full Name: Jack Kelly
Newsie Name and Origin: He's called Cowboy, on account of the fact that he intends to someday return to Santa Fe, where he claims his family is waiting for him, and actually be a cowboy.
Age: 18
Personality: A natural leader and an easily likable guy, Jack doesn't run away from any fight, and though his head can be turned by a promise of prosperity, he's a steadfast and loyal friend through thick or thin.
Birthplace: Scranton, PA
Siblings: None.
Parents: Mary Freeman Sullivan (deceased) and Paul Sullivan (incarcerated).
History: Born Frances Sullivan, he doesn't speak of his past, save for the occasional tale that may or may not be true. He claims that his mother and father (who are both alive and walking free in his tales) have moved to Santa Fe, and will send for their son when they've gotten everything squared away. In reality, Frances's mother was killed when he was a boy, and his father arrested for conspiring to have her murdered. His family dissolved, Frances ran away to carve out his own existence, and adopted the identity of Jack Kelly.
Jack was a hard kid with a devil-may-care attitude. He's been snatched up by the warden several times, but managed to escape the Refuge with each incarceration. He became leader of Manhattan simply by chance, as he had become the head of the Manhattan hierarchy, so to speak, and took on the responsibilities of organizing the newsies to protest during the price hike of 1899.
Hair: Sandy brown, longer than respectable and usually unkempt.
Eyes: Hazel
Body: 6’, 135lb, decently built, tanned skin.
Clothing, Special Items, Other: Bears a black cowboy hat, which he claims was a gift from his father, usually left hanging down his back by a loop around his neck, and a red bandanna, usually tied around his neck, to add to his cowboy appearance. Regular attire consists of a pair of black trousers, an ill-fitted long-sleeved grey shirt and a black vest, left unbuttoned.
