While Ophelia remained with their parents, Mercutio and Tybalt left to find work and get charity for being 'orphans'. They lost contact with their family when their parents died in 1890. Mercutio soon parted ways with Tybalt, becoming a successful salesman and eventually earning enough to open his open general store.
