"Yeh." Chase told him. Not bothering to whisper. Anyone dare throw anything at him, he'd kill them. He opened his eyes and pulled his shirt back on. He followed Asher out of the room and back down to the entrance. He wipped the rest of sleep off his face. When they got outside, he squinted. He hadn't realized it was this late in the morning. The sun had risen. He guessed it was almost noon. "Damn, i haven't slept that long in a long time. Forever actually." He said sheilding his eyes with his hand.

Asher yawned and raised his arm as he did, stretching. "I know what you mean. Haven't slept like that since I was-" He was about to say, with Moira, but instead said something else, "Since I was a child."

Chase paused, noticing Asher's hesitation, but shrugged it off. He looked back into the sun. He stared at the ground and blinked the spots out of his eyes. He shook his head as if that would help. He stopped, knowing he looked like a fool. "So, where ah we headed today?" He wanted to see Street again and Asher was the only one they both talked to.

Asher grinned. "You wanna go see where Street lives?" He asked. "It's close by. You'd think she'd live in the Bronx, but no, she lives in Brooklyn." He nodded. That was the truth. She did live under the Brooklyn Bridge. No need to tell Chase that right now. "Let me just pick up something for her first." He pointed to a cart. There he bought her several pastries. "Cinnamon Buns, her favorite." He handed on to Chase. "Want one?"

Chase made an apreciative sound as Asher handed him the bun. "Yeah, thanks. I'm starved." He took one and took a bite out of it. He nodded after a while. "Yeah sure. I'd like ta see Street again." He thought for a while. "Ya know ya can call meh Tiger." He shrugged. "People have called meh that for a while. No one's really eva known meh name. But do what ya want." He ate more of his cinnamon bun and let Asher think about what he'd said.

Asher laughed. "Some people call me Broadway, but... I prefer Asher." He shrugged. "Come on, follow me then." He lead Chase through the Bronx, down through Harlem and Midtown, through Manhattan and over the Brooklyn Bridge. Once they reached the end, he led him down a side road that took them to a make-shift fence, he squeezed through a hole and emerged on a rocky beach far below the bridge. Nearly twenty people of all ages, sizes, and colors lingered on the beach. Some sleeping on rags by the bridge's supports, other sat around fires eating, and still more were near the water, washing clothes and theirselves. Street stood on a rock in the river, barefoot as usual. She was laughing and avoiding splashes made by some younger kids.
"Come on Roger! Ya can do better then that!" She looked up, laughing and gave a shout of joy. She jumped into the river and ran to the bank, then scrambled up it and hugged Asher tightly around the middle. "Oh! Ya brought me then buns! Thanks so much!" She hugged him again and took a bun.
"It was Chase's idea." Asher said smoothly. She looked up at him, smiling.
"Thanks!" Then she hugged him too. "Ya really are sweet! Now I see why Asher-" she stopped, glanced at him and continued, "-is yer friend!"

Chase smiled as Street hugged him. He winked at Asher and hugged Street back. WHen she pulled away she opened her bun. Chase looked at the kids in the water still attempting to splash her. He stared at them and after a while, the splashing stopped. Chase looked away from them, hoping he didn't offend Street.

Street grinned. "What ya guys scaredy-cats now?" She teased the younger kids.
"We ain't scared of nothin'!" Said the boy named Roger, to prove it, he began to try and splash Chase too.
Street giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. Then she tore off bits of her bun and handed one to each child. "Go on, eat up."
"Jeremiah liked cinnamon buns." Roger said. Everyone stopped talking. Street became sad.
"Yes. Yes he did." Was all she said.

Chase ground his teeth in response to almost getting splashed by a child. Then, everything became quiet. He looked at Street. She was sad and he didn't know why. He looked at her with his head cocked to the side. "Who is Jeremiah? What happend? Street.." He looked around. The annoying brats were upset too. Normally, he wouldn't care about them, but Street was friends with them so he cared for them anyway.

Asher shook his head and took Chase to the side. "See... There was this boy and he fell into the river and never got better. He died. Not to long ago. Street was very fond of him, like she is with all the children. She sees them as her responsibility. So... Try not to mention it, yeah?" Asher said quickly and quietly.

Chase looked at Asher. He smiled and nodded to him. He went over to Street and hugged her uncertainly. "It's okay, Street." He whispered in her ear. He reached over and ruffled the kid that tried to splash him hair. He smiled at the kid and slowly reached down and splashed him with a bunch of water. Chase laughed at him then splashed Street and Asher. He smiled the smile that got everyone's mood up.

Street laughed. Roger looked uncertain but joined in anyway. "It's a nice day taday. Ya boys wanna go swimmin'?" Street asked them. She gestured to where several children were swimming and playing. "I can't swim too good but as long as we stay close ta the bank and outta the rapids."
Asher nodded. "I wanna go swimming. Chase?"

Chase smiled. He was glad he got Street to laugh. "Sure. Why not." He said. He pulled his shirt off, and ran to the water with his shorts on. "Come on Street! I'll save ya!" He said as he dunked Roger under the water. The kid came up spitting the water out of his mouth but laughed and splashed Chase.

Street nodded and pulled off her meager jacket, leaving just her tattered dress. Asher blinked at seeing Chase without his shirt again, but buried it and pulled off his plaid shirt, following them in with his heavy pants. Street laughed. "Ya can't save me! We ain't even in the deep part." She laughed. She pointed out to the middle of the river, where boys were jumping off docks. "Ya wanna do that?" She asked, already swimming down there, Asher was following her, beign weighed down slightly by his pants.

Chase smiled at her as she swam out to him. "The question is, do ya want ta try it? I ain't scared of nothin'." He looked at the boys jumping the docks. HE smiled a devilish kind of smile. He would LOVE to do that. He started swimming towards the docks before Street even got to him. "Well? Ya commin'?"
