As soon as they reached the lodging house, she dragged Chase up the stairs, ignoring Spade and Abby who sat on the couch downstairs. She gently pulled him over to her bunk and sat down, pulling him down to sit beside her. She looked into his eyes and took both of his hands in hers as she sighed softly. "Chase....I love you, and I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to you,"she told him as she let go of his hands and placed her hands on his cheeks. She could still see Hawkeye in the back of her head with Hope and the image still killed her inside, but she was so torn apart at this point.
She slowly dropped her hands from his cheeks when she couldn't seem to get Hawk out of her head and she looked down allowing her blond waves to curtain her face. She bit her bottom lip hard and shook her head at her own thoughts, she didn't know what to do, why was it that Chase had almost been murdered and yet she still had Hawk in her head?

Chase held Ace's hands on his face, but let them slide as she took them off. He wrapped her in his arms. "'S ok Ace. I'm fine. Thanks to Street. I ain't never gonna leave you again. That's a promise." He smiled at her. He'd left her once for Mischief and it tore him up inside. It almost killed him, litterally. Mischief had turned on him when he hadn't expected it. He looked at Ace. "Ace?" He asked seeing the far away look in her eyes. "Honest i ain't going anywhere. I'm here for you." He said. He scooted closer to her and hugged her tightly and kissed her on the cheek.

She felt his arms around her, his lips on her cheek and yet she felt numb, she felt as though she were going to break down, but she couldn't, she couldn't in front of him. She absently out of reaction, leaned into his embrace and slowly wrapped her arms around his waist but she couldn't find words to say, she was so lost in her thoughts at this point that she was trying so hard to keep from letting it show as well. She absently burried her face in Chase's chest as she held him close and she closed her eyes taking in the scent of his shirt as she thought stupidly to herself that it smelt so much different than Hawk's. She was losing it and she knew it, part of her wondered if any of it had to do with all the stress she had been put under when Jack was gone, she wasn't sure any more. She let her mouth open and the only thing that came out was her soft voice speaking simply one word,"Chase..."

Chase hugged Ace to him tightly. "I'm right here." He told her. He didn't know what was wrong. He wasn't sure how to help. He rested his chin on the top of her head. "What's wrong hun? Tell me what it is i want to help." He told her. He tilted her head up so he could look into her eyes.

She looked into his eyes when he lifted her chin and she bit her bottom lip not knowing if she could even explain any of this to him. She should be able to right? He couldn't get mad at her just for having some feelings for someone else right? He had done the same to her with Mischief, worse actually because he had dated Mischief as well. Her side of this was ok....wasn't it?
She opened her mouth and the words she feared to tell him came out,"Chase.....I love you but please don't be upset, I want to be with you.....but you have to know....I have feelings for Hawkeye too..."she whispered almost helplessly.

Chase stared into Ace's eyes as she told him all of this. He wasn't going to tell her that when she'd said that it felt like a knife went through his heart. He swallowed and hugged her again, but not as tightly. He knew how she felt when he'd told her about Mischief. "It's ok. Thank you for telling me." He said kissing her cheek. "I'm sorry about everything. Mischief- was a mistake."

She could see the hurt in his eyes, feel his arms around her not as tightly as usual when he hugged her. She looked into his eyes and brought her hands to his cheeks before leaning her forehead against his. "Chase I love you....alright....I love you so much which is why I'm honest with you, I dunno what'll happen in the future, nobody can predict it, but right now...you are my present, you are my everything,"she whispered before she brought her lips to his kissing him softly.
