"Well..." Asher said, "Jump."
"Yeah, he's popularity with the ladies has soared since he stopped jumpin' them everytime they see him. Yer popularity has plummeted. They think yer uppity since ye started goin' with Ophelia." Sean informed him.
"Yeah, seein' as she's a jerk." Levi said suddenly, from not two feet in front of them.
"Yeah, you don't see what she's like when you're not with her. She's always lookin' down her nose at everyone. She's a faker, Mush." Asher said, holding up his hands in defeat.

Mush laughed uncertainly and punched Sean lightly on the arm. "Funny, guys. Man, yer good." He wanted to believe they were making it up but the three of them all had serious looks on their faces. He hadn't seen Levi so serious. Ever. Mush swallowed hard. They were his friends they had no reason to lie to him. But it couldn't be true. Ophelia was a great person. He loved her. He smirked and shook his head. "Alright guys you can stop. Ya got meh. Good joke. And Levi, that was amazin' ya'd make a nice acta." They were all stopped in the middle of the street just looking at one another.

The three exchanged an uneasy glance. "We aren't lying." Asher said nervously.
"Yeah... Should we tell him?" Sean asked Levi, he shrugged then nodded.
"Mush... The other day..." He took a step back as did Asher and Sean. "Well, I'll start with this. You'd better keep an eye on her. She's lookin' for the wrong kinda excitement if ya get what I mean... The other day-" He swallowed and felt himself sweating heavily, he wiped his forehead. "She offered me... a trade. She said that if I wanted a goil I should try her out-and not just a couple a dates. Stuff that I'm tryin' to stop doin', see? She said that you could have Street-since you both can't get any. She was sayin' some awful stuff Mush. I turned her down, but... She won't leave me alone. She says you ain't movin' fast enough."
"She was talkin' about comin' down to Harlem and lettin' me have a go. Mate, I swear I would never." Sean interjected.
"She said she's turn me straight again. But... That's not how I go anymore. I'm all guys." Asher assured him.
"Tell me about it." Sean said.

Mush stepped away from them and shook his head. It would've been in disbelief- it should've been. But it was in utter amazement and a little bit of anger. He looked up and looked at all three of his friends. A muscle in his jaw jumped. "I- i can't believe..." His voice trailed off. He balled up his hands into fists. "Yous guys are ridiculous." He shouted and ran off. He didn't know where he was going. His anger was blinding him, and so was his black eye. He kept running into people and didn't bother to turn around and apologize. He hoped one of them was an angry guy that wanted to fight. He had a lot of anger bottled up. He needed it to go away. He stumbled through the streets, looking for Ophelia. He paused against one of the buildings and slumped against it slowly sliding until he hit the ground.

Levi chased him as Sean and Asher limped after them. Levi caught up to him by the building as was barely out of breath. "Look, I tell lies, but I would never lie about somethin' like this. Honest." He said, copying Street. "She's beautiful and she never shows it around you. It may just be that she's testin' the waters, or maybe she's really like that. I dunno, we just told you how it is." He looked over his shoulder and saw Sean and Asher staring at them from the corner, he shook his head and they sat on a nearby stoop. "I-I'm sorry about all this Mush, honestly."

Mush blinked the tears out of his eyes and shook his head. He looked up at Levi. "That's what that was at Tibbys huh?" He still didn't believe it, but it was growing on him. He shook his head and waved Levi off when he came closer. "No, stay away from meh." He was so angry his hands had started to shake. "I've got ta find her and straighten this out. Ya know where she is?" He knew it wasn't the best idea to confront someonewhen you were angry. Levi was the perfect example of this. But he had to go.

Levi shook his head. "Yeah, that's what it was about. She was tryin' to feel me up with her foot." He shrugged nervously. "No, Mush. I ain't lettin' you go. Besides... No one knows where she is. She went missin' after the fight in the bar." Levi told him. "Street hasn't even seen her."

Mush looked up at him quickly. "Huh?" No one's seen her? That wasn't good. His anger instantly evaporated, or at least hid itself for now. And he stood up. "When? Why? I gotta find her." He started off in a random direction then circled back to Levi. "Yea, ya have any idea where? Any at all?" Levi shook his head and Mush cursed under his breath. He sighed and wandered off again. He just hoped it wasn't Killer. He'd heard too many cases that he was involved in and not many survived.

Levi shrugged. "I dunno, Street went over to her boardin' house and she wasn't allowed to enter. So, maybe she's just hidin' because she knows she's in trouble..." Levi said slowly, trying to reason with his friend. Levi reached out a hand but thought better of it. "Just... take it slow..."

Mush looked at Levi and breathed heavily out of his nose. "I will try. Ain't sayin' i can. But i will try." He headed down the road towards Street's boardin' house. He figured if he couldn't find anyone there, he'd check Ophelia's. He didn't know and didn't care if he was being followed by anyone. He headed off at a steady pace. He saw the big building as it loomed over the street. He walked over and knocked on the door. "Good day ma'am. Is Street-um Rosalind Lexeme here? Or Ophelia Lexeme?" She said no and he asked if she knew where they might be.

Levi waved to the other two and followed Mush, neither followed. Asher had been distracted by a really cute boy and chased after him, Sean following wearily. Levi stood at the bottom of the steps to the door to the boarding house.
"I'm sorry young man. Ophelia returned to her school this morning. I turned the beggar girl out into the street." She said, shutting the door firmly. Levi ground his teeth.
"She ain't a beggar!" he called after her. "Fat whore." He spat, then looked at Mush. "You okay, man?"

"Well that helped." Mush rolled his eys at Levi. He sighed. She could be anywhere by now. He figured he'd go to Mercutio and Scarlette and see if they had any idea of where she went. If not, he'd have to go and find her himself. Even if it meant finding Killer.

Levi rolled his eyes. "Mush, I ain't followin' you all over the city so you can find this girl. Sooner or later, she'll come to us. I mean, she's probably with Street and Street can find me a mile away." He sniffed the air. "She's like a dog." He said, laughing.

Mush looked at Levi. "Fine then, yous can stay here." He walked down the steps and looked both ways before crossing the street. When he got to the other side, he put his hands in his pockets. He looked back and Levi roll his eyes and follow him. No doubt he'd try to stop him. But Mush wasn't budging. He wasn't going to let Ophelia die if Killer had her.

Levi did roll his eyes, and he did jog after Mush. Knowing him, he'd think his goil a damsel in distress and try and rescue her getting himself hurt in the process...
"Sean! Asher! This way!" Levi called, not watching to see if they followed, his mocasins made no sound as he trailed Mush. No need for him to get mad at Levi again.
